Global Executive Development Research Last opportunity to have your say!

The executive development research survey will close next Friday 8 May, don’t miss the opportunity to have your say and receive a copy of the results.

The response primarily from senior executives within hotels and related businesses is providing some interesting and potentially conflicting views on the whole area of executive and professional development.
The overriding view is that organised training and development is essential for frontline staff for their career progression within the organisation. There is also a very strong view that executive development is essential if organisations are to grow and thrive. However here we have a divergences from what could have been expected. A majority of senior executives believe that they should take the responsibility for their own development and not leave it to their organisation.

Over 60% of those responded have undertaken executive development within the last 3 years,

However 13% cannot even remember the last time they undertook any form of development program!

Interestingly enough

Over 50% of organisations do not have a policy for executive development but have clear written policies in relation to operational staff.

This rather begs the question why is executive development seen differently?

Many executives do not believe that executive development should always result in some form of qualification but it should always be relevant to their business.

Thank you to those who have completed the survey, a copy of the results will be sent to you once the research has closed. If you have not yet contributed, it is not too late, and your views whether similar or very different will enhance the research.
