Marriott, Hilton, and IHG close Q4 2022 with largest projects counts

As reported in the fourth quarter United States Construction Pipeline Trend Report from Lodging Econometrics (LE) for 2022, the franchise companies with the largest construction pipelines at the end of Q4 are led by Marriott International (Marriott) with 1,490 projects/180,113 rooms. Following Marriott is Hilton Worldwide (Hilton) with 1,378 projects/154,790 rooms and InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) with 789 projects/78,951 rooms. Combined, these three companies account for 67% of the projects and 64% of the rooms in the total pipeline.

Hilton to bring first Waldorf Astoria property to Costa Rica

Hilton announced the signing of the first Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts property in Costa Rica, the new-built Waldorf Astoria Guanacaste, currently under construction and expected to open in 2025. Exceptionally located on a peninsula with unobstructed ocean views, Waldorf Astoria Guanacaste will offer 190 guest rooms and 25 Waldorf Astoria branded residences in the tropical paradise of Guanacaste known for its dramatic scenery, lush forests, and beautiful beaches. The property will focus on sustainable luxury with an emphasis on architecture that blends into the surroundings, native flora and fauna, and offerings that connect guests with the natural environment. All resort vehicles utilized on the property will be electric.

Hilton announced today the highly anticipated opening of Waldorf Astoria Cancun, the 173-room luxury resort set among the verdant mangroves of the Yucatan Peninsula, offering panoramic ocean views, world-class dining, and destination-worthy wellness offerings. The opening of Waldorf Astoria Cancun marks the 200th hotel in the Caribbean and Latin America for Hilton, as well as the first Waldorf Astoria hotel in the Mexican Caribbean and second in the country.
