Marriott’s #PictureYourselfHere campaign takes job seekers behind-the-scenes

Marriott's picture yourself_iMarriott International has announced innovations to its careers sites and job search process as it aims to engage jobseekers worldwide through its new #PictureYourselfHere campaign.

The campaign includes enhanced job search functionality, featuring behind-the-scenes photos submitted by current associates all around the world, in an effort to reach the best talent in the industry. The campaign is designed to creatively provide job seekers with a more impactful job search experience and an authentic view into what it’s like to work at Marriott International.

#PictureYourselfHere follows commissioned research in 15 countries to better understand user behavior when looking for a job and navigating careers sites. Job descriptions were specifically cited through the research as being a primary factor in deciding whether or not to apply to a job with a company. Supporting that research, 79% of users navigating through the Marriott careers desktop site immediately click into the search and apply process, moving directly into viewing job descriptions for open positions. #PictureYourselfHere makes the job seeker experience more dynamic, authentic and shareable.

To create the experience, Marriott launched an internal drive to enlist their associates’ assistance by providing their “points of view.” Over 17,000 images were submitted in a “Share Your Space” initiative, aimed at engaging current associates to submit images of their workplace, workspaces, colleagues, hotels or offices, and beautiful views. Select hotels that participated in capturing the essence of working at Marriott were rewarded with a common space upgrade in the “heart of the house” of their hotel. Many of these images were used to construct the now enhanced pages of the Marriott and The Ritz-Carlton careers sites, available to jobseekers on both mobile and desktop platforms.

“Our ultimate goal is to find and engage the best talent in the marketplace – inspired and dedicated employees who are passionate about delivering exceptional experiences to our guests,” says Kristy Godbold, Global HR Officer, Talent Acquisition & Solutions and Corporate Human Resources at Marriott International. “To achieve this end, we are continually reinventing our careers sites and job search process to engage jobseekers, especially millennials, in the ways that matter most to them. The fact that our own employees are co-creators in making these innovations possible is exciting.”
