Didi Sarwono named new Executive Chef at Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta

Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta’s General Manager, Ian Cameron, has announced the appointment of Didi Sarwono as the new Executive Chef. In his new role, Executive Chef Didi Sarwono will oversee all food & beverage outlets at Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta, including all-day dining Royal Restaurant, The Lobby Lounge & Bar, as well as the upcoming new coffee shop, Punika Deli, to open this December.

“Cooking is all about discovery and sharing that experience with others,” Didi says. “From learning about new intricate techniques to collaborate with local traditions, I love the idea of trying something new and beyond the usual and I am bringing this sense of discovery and excitement to Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta’s culinary program. I feel very privileged to be appointed at this great classic hotel which has such an abundance of Yogyakarta’s Royal Palace legacy.”

Recognized for his unrelenting creativity in the kitchen, Executive Chef Didi Sarwono started his culinary career in the 2000’s, expanding 5-star international chain hotels in Bandung, Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan to Dubai, a fine dining restaurant in Jakarta and also cruise lines in Germany and Australia. In addition to his professional training in the kitchen, Executive Chef Didi Sarwono has been named as one of the semi-finalists on “Indonesian Chef of The Year 2012” along with nine others senior chefs in the industry. His passion to food styling and discovering new creations from traditional meeting westerns gastronomy triggers him to share his journey to 16.000+ followers on his personal Instagram (@didi_sarwono) and a blog full of beautiful cuisines.
