Chris Hammons appointed General Manager at Homewood Suites Miami-Airport/Blue Lagoon

Chris HammonsHomewood Suites by Hilton Miami-Airport/Blue Lagoon has introduced a new general manager – Chris Hammons.

A 13-year hospitality veteran, Hammons takes the helm at the extended-stay Miami hotel, managed by Dimension Development, after serving as general manager at Hilton Garden Inn Austin North in Austin, TX. Hammons will move his family to Southern Florida, where he grew up and said he has many fond memories.

“I will be happy to be close to the beach and teach my son the joys of fishing and surfing, a skill I have yet to master myself,” Hammons said. “I’m also looking forward to working with an exceptional team to take the hotel and brand to a new level of at-home comfort in a really convenient area.”

Hammons has served in a number of hospitality leadership roles, including general manager at Fairfield Inn & Suites Austin North/Parmer Lane, Residence Inn Austin South and Fairfield Inn & Suites Austin-University Area. He began his professional career as a front office manager at a beachfront hotel in Panama City, Florida before taking on an assistant general manager position at The Inn at St. Thomas Square in the same city. He then moved on to the Destin/Fort Walton Beach area, working for Courtyard and Residence Inn brands before heading to Lake Charles, Louisiana to take the hotel operations manager position at Isle of Capri Casino and Hotel. Austin was his next destination.

Hammons said Homewood Suites by Hilton Miami-Airport/Blue Lagoon “has huge potential, and I’m ready to show results through training, fun and processes.” The contemporary hotel encourages short and longer-term stays with suites that feature separate areas for sleeping, living and working. While the property is surrounded by water with lagoons in the front and back, it also boasts a tropical outdoor pool where travelers can soak up the Sunshine State in style.

When not working, Hammons enjoys watching soccer, baseball and football and is extremely excited to be able to watch his college football team, the University of West Florida Argonauts, take to the gridiron for their inaugural season.
