Cornell University’s Statler Hotel promotes Thomas Gisler to director of food & beverage

Statler-Hotel logoThe Statler Hotel on the Cornell University campus is pleased to announce the promotion of Thomas Gisler to director of food and beverage. Gisler had served as executive chef of the Statler since 2005. In his expanded role, he will leverage his substantial culinary wisdom and experience as he oversees both front-of-the-house and back-of-the-house food-and-beverage (F&B) operations at the hotel.

Gisler’s international career started at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Florida, continuing at the Hyatt Regency South Korea, the Grand Hyatt in Japan, and the Hyatt Regency in Cologne, Germany, where he was executive chef. Prior to joining the Statler in May 2005, he was the executive chef at the Otesaga Resort in Cooperstown.

“Chef Gisler came to the Statler already an accomplished professional with a distinguished career,” said Richard Adie ’75, general manager. “He has assembled a great culinary team that has made significant progress in all areas of our mission: customer service, financial contribution, and our students’ experiential learning. This promotion is well deserved.”

Added Gisler, “It has been a pleasure to serve and partner with the School of Hotel Administration, as well as the broader Cornell community and its guests, and I’m truly honored to receive this recognition. I look forward to making the most of my new responsibilities.”
