Loews Hotels has announced the appointment of George Fleck as senior vice president of brands and marketing. Drawing on more than 20 years of hotel operations, marketing and brand management experience, Fleck oversees the architecture, marketing, management and expansion of the Loews brands including Loews Hotels & Resorts, Loews Regency, and the OE Collection.
“We’re very excited to have George’s expertise as we continue to develop the Loews family of brands across North America,” said Kirk Kinsell, President & CEO of Loews Hotels. “His eye for hospitality brand innovation, fluency with digital and social media, and talent for creating meaningful partnerships, authentic programs and creative promotions that appeal to contemporary travelers are highly desirable at a pivotal moment of growth for our portfolio.”
Prior to joining Loews, Fleck was Starwood Hotels and Resorts’ vice president of global brand management where he aligned the global strategies of the upper-upscale Le Méridien and Westin brands. Fleck originally joined Starwood in 2002 and held various leadership roles in Sales & Marketing at W brand properties. In 2009, he became director of marketing Europe based at W Barcelona, providing marketing support and strategic vision for W Hotels openings in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. A year later, in 2010, he became Senior Director, Global Brand Management for W Hotels Worldwide, based at Starwood’s New York Design Center. Fleck also worked in various sales, marketing and operational positions for Hyatt Corporation and Marriott International in the U.S. and Europe.
In 2014, Fleck was named to Brand Innovators’ list of “40 Under 40” representing the first generation of brand marketers that grew up with digital media as their native language and are driving the future of media and communications. Beyond digital, Fleck is fluent in German, French, Spanish and English.
Additionally, as Loews Hotels continues to grow and expand, they have promoted from within two key C-level officers.
John Cottrill, COO
Executive vice president of operations, since 2012, John Cottrill has been promoted to chief operating officer. With a strong track record of shaping and leading day-to-day operations, this includes food & beverage, training & learning and facilities, Cottrill will lead the dynamic team that work hard to enrich the lives of Loews Hotels’ guests.
Matthew Brenner, CFO
Matthew Brenner has recently been named CFO. Since joining in 2014, Brenner has made a strong impact by enhancing stakeholder relationships and developing the multi-year strategy in his position as senior vice president and corporate controller. In his new role, Brenner will oversee all aspects of finance, accounting, reporting, strategic planning and risk management.
Brenner’s appointment comes as a result of CFO Vince Dunleavy’s retirement at the end of 2016. Spending nearly four decades at Loews Hotels, Dunleavy will continue to offer his expertise and insight through senior advisement and special projects.
“I am very proud of our senior leadership and truly believe our team is stronger than ever,” said Kirk Kinsell, President & CEO of Loews Hotels. “As we continue to grow and transform, it is an honor to work alongside such a talented and skilled group of leaders.”
