Loews Hotels & Resorts has promoted two of its most seasoned and talented leaders to new roles at the Orlando hotel campus. Barb Bowden has been named complex managing director and Larry Beiderman has been promoted to complex general manager for Loews Sapphire Falls Resort and Loews Royal Pacific Resort. Loews and Universal Orlando Resort plan to operate the two hotels as a complex, when Loews Sapphire Falls Resort opens in the summer of 2016. The complex will offer a combined 2,000 rooms and suites and nearly 250,000 square feet of connected meeting space.
Most recently, Bowden was the managing director of operations for Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando. She has extensive experience managing the day-to-day operations of large-scale properties. Prior to joining Loews Hotels at Universal Orlando, Bowden was the general manager of the Orange County Convention Center, the second largest convention and tradeshow facility in the United States. She got her start in the hotel business at the former Peabody Orlando, where she started as a front desk supervisor and worked her way up to general manager and eventually vice president. Bowden is an executive committee member of the Americas Board of Directors of Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International and also serves on the University of Central Florida Rosen College of Hospitality Management Advisory Board and the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association Board of Directors.
Beiderman has served as the managing director of Loews Royal Pacific Resort for the past five years. His extensive knowledge of Loews Hotels and its world-class service will be integral in establishing the synergies needed for the success of the complex. Beiderman has been a general manager at Loews Hotels in Washington, DC and Annapolis, MD. He will help to ensure the Loews culture and service standards are infused into all aspects of the guest and team member experience. Beiderman was named Hotelier of the Year by the Maryland Hotel & Lodging Association and Most Valuable Volunteer by the American Hotel & Lodging Association.
