JW Marriott Houston Downtown has appointed Cahal Mowery as director of group sales. With more than five years of group sales experience, Mowery comes to the luxury hotel from the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau (GHCVB), where he was a national account executive on the Convention Sales Team, tasked with attracting convention business to Houston. In his new role, he will be responsible for developing the convention and group travel market.
“Cahal brings invaluable convention experience and expertise to our marketing and sales team,” said Natalie Wiseman, JW Marriott Houston Downtown director of sales and marketing. “His extensive knowledge will be a great asset as we work toward our goal of making the JW Marriott Houston Downtown the premier destination for group travelers.”
Mowery received a degree in hotel and restaurant management from the University of Houston, where he also earned his Master of Business Administration degree. He is also a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP), Certified Travel Associate (CTA) and a certified sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers.
An active member of the Meeting Professionals International – Houston Area Chapter, Mowery has served on the organization’s Board of Directors since 2013. In 2014, he was named among Connect Magazine’s 40 under 40.
