Marco Li new Chinese Executive Chef at Sheraton Zhuhai

Marco Li Sheraton Zhuhai Hotel, the new Sheraton property scheduled to open before the end of the year, has appointed Marco Li to be the new Executive Chinese Chef. Chef Li will direct the hotel’s culinary team and specifically focus on Yue, the property’s signature Chinese restaurant that will offer classic and contemporary Chinese selections. Chef Li brings his 20-year culinary background and exemplary hotel pre-opening experience to Sheraton Zhuhai Hotel which is slated to open on December 28.

“Chef Li is not only a talented chef, but also an exceptional manager who has successfully opened two international Sheraton properties and led high-performing culinary teams at several hotels in China,” said Sunny Heng, general manager of Sheraton Zhuhai Hotel.  “We are thrilled to have Chef Li at the new Sheraton Zhuhai Hotel in the city’s lively Shizimen District where we know he will bring his expertise in establishing new culinary offerings, overseeing a seamless operation at Yue, and creating delicious fare for the hotel’s banquets, meetings, and special events.”

Chef Li, who specializes in Cantonese cuisine, has been with Sheraton Hotels & Resorts for seven years during which he has been instrumental in the success of large events for heads of state, consulate officials, and high-profile business executives.   Most recently, Chef Li was the opening International Chinese Executive Sous Chef for Sheraton Guangzhou, located near the heart of the city’s shopping, business, and sports center.  He has also served as Chinese Sous Chef for Sheraton Shunde at the city’s first international five-star hotel, and as Assistant Chinese Kitchen Sous Chef for Sheraton Shenzhen Futian, a large convention hotel in Shenzhen’s Central Business District.  Prior to joining Sheraton, Chef Li held the position of Chef de Partie at Shangri-la Shenzhen.

At Sheraton Zhuhai Hotel, Chef Li will primarily be responsible for overseeing Yue, the hotel’s signature Chinese restaurant located on the 19th floor. Guests will enjoy Chef Li’s Chinese cuisine that incorporates both classic and contemporary influences, with dishes such as Steamed chopped pork minced with roe crab, Chef signature pan- fried chicken with herbs ginger, and Oven roasted beef short ribs. Yue’s décor and ambiance is refined and elegant with the Oriental Silk Road as the main narrative splendidly apparent in the restaurant’s design. For private dining, each secluded dining space has its own design theme such as Silk, Ceramics, Tea, Colored Glazes, and Treasure Chest.  The natural beauty of the materials and finishes evokes an atmosphere of understated luxury which will undoubtedly complement Chef Li’s cuisine.
