Vail Cascade Resort announces five promotions and team hires

As the Vail Valley’s largest hospitality employer, Vail Cascade Resort, A Destination Hotel, understands the role each associate plays in maintaining one of the region’s top TripAdvisor ratings. One of its key efforts to retaining talent is creating a work environment that gives associates the opportunities to advance and diversify their career paths. As such, John Garth, managing director at Vail Cascade Resort, A Destination Hotel, announced four promotions and one new hire. Carly Mietzner was promoted to Spa Manager; Chris Bates was promoted to Executive Chef; Jonathan Seidt was promoted to Director of Banquets and Outlets; Jolene Sandoval was promoted to Executive Meetings Manager and Angie Sheehan was hired as National Sales Manager.

Carly Mietzner_1Carly Mietzner, Spa Manager

Carly Mietzner was promoted from spa supervisor to spa manager.

With 14 treatment rooms, five manicure and pedicure stations, a private sanctuary and a medley of other spa experiences, Mietzner takes the reins of one of Vail’s largest resort spas.

In this new role, Mietzner is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Aria Spa, including managing the spa’s finances, employees, and menu development and guest services. Additionally, she will work closely with promotional and product partners to outfit the spa’s retail store with the best in apparel, accessories and beauty and skincare products.

Chris Bates_1Chris Bates, Executive Chef

Chris Bates was promoted from sous chef to executive chef.

In this position, Bates will oversee all culinary operations for the AAA Four Diamond resort, including banquets, Atwater on Gore Creek, The Market Café, poolside and in-room service and offsite group and event functions.

His key responsibilities span hiring, training, menu development, providing support and cooking alongside his team in the kitchen.

As a celebrity chef for Food Arts and Gourmet magazine and guest chef at food and wine events throughout the country, Bates is culinary maverick with the business skills necessary to lead and inspire his team.

Jonathan SeidtJonathan Seidt, Director of Banquets and Outlets

Jonathan Seidt was promoted and expanded his role from director of banquets to director of banquets and outlets.

As a full-service resort with 45,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space, the Vail Cascade Resort is a venue of choice for special events, weddings and group meetings.

In this role, Seidt is responsible for working with his team to deliver the attention to detail, service and capabilities to ensure every event is flawlessly executed. As Director, he will also take a more active role in budgeting and forecasting, working closely with management to explore new practices to make staff as efficient as possible. 

Jolene SandovalJolene Sandoval, Executive Meetings Manager

Jolene Sandoval was promoted from reservations manager to executive meetings manager.

A newly created position, Sandoval will work with the resort’s sales team to meet the significant short-term demand the resort is experiencing from smaller meetings and conferences.

In this role, she will be responsible for both the sales phase prior to arrival, as well as event services to the group once onsite. During her 4 year tenure at the resort, this is Sandoval’s third promotion and a complete new venture into sales from her previous roles in reservations.

Angie SheehanAngie Sheehan, National Sales Manager

Angie Sheehan joins the sales team as a new national sales manager. Based in the Vail office, Sheehan will be responsible for working with conference group planners in healthcare and medical.

Prior to joining Vail Cascade Resort, Sheehan worked in the conference service office at Keystone Resort, where she was promoted to a national sales role with Keystone Resort in 2005 and continued there until moving to a sales position at The Sebastian-Vail in 2012. She is an active member of Destination Colorado and MPI, and has strong relationships with the team at the Vail Valley Partnership.
