Rosario Bianchi new GM for Holiday Inn on Manhattan’s Lower East Side

M&R Hotel Management, operator of 10 New York hotels, has announced the appointment of Rosario Bianchi to general manager of the 132-room Holiday Inn NYC-Lower East Side at Delancey and Suffolk streets.

Bianchi, a 17-year hospitality industry veteran who has served in hotels in New York City, Long Island and Baltimore, will oversee all aspects of the hotel, including operations, sales, marketing, security, maintenance, housekeeping and accounting.

Prior to joining M&R Hotel Management, Bianchi was general manager of the Holiday Inn Long Island City-Manhattan View in New York. From 2009 to 2010, he was executive director of rooms at The Garden City Hotel in New York. From 2005 to 2006, he was assistant general manager of the Fitzpatrick Grand Central, and from 2003 to 2005 he was front desk director at the Gramercy Park Hotel, both in New York City.

From 2001 to 2003, Bianchi served the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City as a sales manager and a service manager. Earlier in his career, he was a front office manager at the Hyatt Regency Baltimore and worked at the Grand Hyatt New York.

“Rosario’s successful track record managing hotels – specifically his recent experience with the Holiday Inn brand – make him well-qualified to become general manager of our thriving Holiday Inn NYC-Lower East Side,” said Brian M. McSherry, M&R Hotel Management chief operating officer.

Bianchi earned a bachelor’s degree in retail management at Cazenovia College in New York and is certified as a fire safety director and in food protection. He completed the InterContinental Hotels Group general manager certification program and the company’s Journey to Brand Manager training program. He speaks fluent Italian.

The Holiday Inn NYC-Lower East Side features king, queen and double rooms, 24-hour fitness and business centers and complimentary Wi-Fi, bottled water and daily newspaper.

The hotel features the Holiday Inn brand’s newest prototype design. Its proprietary in-room Guest Link tool enables guests to access the Internet, connect their laptops to the in-room 32-inch, flat-screen television and charge their cellphones and tablets. A 24-hour grab-and-go Corner Market Place enables guests to pick up light meals, snacks, beverages and toiletries. A guest laundry also is available.

Retro Bar & Grill, the hotel’s 1950s-style diner, serves American classics with a twist. It is open for breakfast and dinner and welcomes guests, visitors to the vibrant Lower East Side neighborhood and members of the local community.

The hotel is one of three M&R Hotel Management properties in Manhattan, including the 177-room Holiday Inn Express Manhattan West Side at 538 West 48th St. and the 89-room Comfort Inn Midtown West at 548 West 48th St.

M&R Hotel Management, based in Great Neck, also operates four hotels near John F. Kennedy International Airport, one near LaGuardia Airport and two in Staten Island. A third hotel on Staten Island, the 105-room Holiday Inn Staten Island, is scheduled to open this month.
