SolWave House enhances Twitter experience for guests

The coast of Magaluf in the southwest of Mallorca is home to a new type of holiday resort, when the Meliá Hotels International group took the decision to reposition a destination considered “mature”.

The “Calvià Beach” project includes a number of hotels which have been renovated in line with the latest trends, as well as quality leisure facilities and international brands along a stretch of a mile of beach with turquoise waters, culminating in the renovated Sol Wave House, a name it owes to the huge artificial wave pools used to practice different types of surf techniques.

The Sol Wave House, thanks to its young and modern guest mix, last summer became the first hotel with a “Twitter Experience” in the world, and has reopened this year with new facilities and even more energy.

The “Tweet Experience Hotel” triumphed last year with a new experience for vacations with all the comforts and luxuries just a tweet away. This year the hotel goes even further: order a taxi, get a beer, book a Bali bed, refill the mini bar, know about everything going on in the hotel or just ask the Tweet Concierge a questions, are just some of the things guests can do by sending a tweet from their mobile while continuing to enjoy the spectacular outdoor parties, fantastic pools, the beach paradise, fun and games, and all the atmosphere of Mallorca.

With hashtags everywhere, the hotel harnesses the power of social media to interact with guests so they can tweet all day long, linking the real world with the virtual, and sharing their experiences. In addition, if customers are not yet familiar with Twitter, the hotel offers a “Twitter lesson” that entitle them to take every opportunity of this social network.

For example: if you want a taxi, just send a tweet with the hashtag #WaveTaxi to @SolWaveHouse; to reserve a Bali bed use the hashtag #BaliBed; to fill the minibar #FillmyFridge and to ask the concierge anything #Askme700 …
