Disney Changes Start this Week

Today's the day Disney kicks off its new Disability Access Service (DAS) program, which replaces the Guest Assistance Card for disabled visitors.

Guests should request the new card at Guest Relations, and will be issued a return time for attractions based on the current wait time.

Disney said it was changing its policy due to abuse of the original program, including an "alarming growth" in disabled "guides" who were charging tourists to accompany them to the front of the lines.

The parks have had some backlash about the change, and have promised to work individually with guests needing more assistance.

Meanwhile, the Disneyland Resort yesterday opened a new website that allows visitors to make reservations for table-service restaurants, including both theme parks, the three Disney-owned hotels, and most of the Downtown Disney restaurants, 60 days in advance.

The Orange County Register also reported that the Anaheim Ducks hockey team will offer free shuttles between the Disneyland Resort and other Anaheim-area attractions (including Garden Walk and the Anaheim Convention Center) for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night games at the Honda Center.

The Ducks Express will starting shuttle service 90 minutes before the start of a game, with return service starting at the beginning of the third period of the game.

Disneyland Resort passholders can park free at the Mickey and Friends parking structure and ride the shuttle to avoid the parking fees at the Honda Center.
