Yippee – The Ritz Relents on Free WiFi!

By Saloni

Here at London Hotels Insight we've been campaigning since 2009 for hotels to shape up and get into the 21st Century with their internet policies.  WiFi is no longer a luxury but a necessity as many guests need to mix business with pleasure and can't charge it to generous corporate accounts, as the many London hotels with free WiFi know and recognise.

The Ritz, one of the world's most famous hotels (serving one of the best afternoon teas in London) – has consistently charged sky-high WiFi tariffs that are among the highest around.  We've named and shamed them on our blog and on Twitter for this shortsighted policy many times.

So it was with great excitement that we recently learned that The Ritz is now finally offering free WiFi!  And they claim to have one of the fastest internet speeds in London.  It's fantastic news and proof that if even The Ritz can be convinced, our free WiFi campaign really is working!

Just as interestingly, The Ritz has also relaxed its dresscode — smart jeans are now fine, but no sportswear.  The infamous "dinner jacket rule" has also been abolished.  It looks like The Ritz is showing herself to be a stylish old lady that can still surprise us with a few new moves… we look forward to visiting soon to see what other tricks she has up her sleeve!
