Cornell University joins HotelsWorld 2016

HotelsWorld 2016Cornell University has become an Academic Supporter of HotelsWorld 2016, Australia’s leading suite of events for accommodation industry leaders. Cornell Associate Dean Steven Carvell will be a keynote speaker at one of the events, Hotels Investment World, on 28 July 2016 in Sydney.

The School of Administration at Cornell, an Ivy league university in the USA, is the learning centre of choice for many of the world’s leaders in hospitality through its undergraduate, post graduate and summer school courses.

Professor Carvell has taught finance courses at the School since 1986. His research is directed toward new approaches to hotel valuation and investment decisions and optimal brand standards for hotel companies. He recently finished a major project designed to identify the determinants of hotel demand in the US and he is also involved with evaluating the effectiveness of hotel company business strategies.

He is the co-author of In the Shadows of Wall Street, has published ten articles in academic and professional journals and his work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Forbes, Fortune, and Institutional Investor and Financial World.

Amongst other activities, Professor Carvell served as a consultant to the Presidential Commission on the 1987 stock market crash and has conducted numerous specialized Executive Education seminars for some of the largest hotel companies in the world. Professor Carvell holds a Ph.D. from the State University of New York, Binghamton.
