New Hilton Vienna Plaza welcomes its guests in 1920s style

Hilton Vienna Plaza_1On 6 June 2014, the Hilton Vienna Plaza officially reopened. Since January, the design and furnishings of the hotel, as well as the entire service concept, have been renovated.

The new furnishings, by renowned London design studio Robert Angell, were inspired by the Golden Twenties, so now the facilities and other little extras on offer allow the era of the Art Deco to flourish once more. This experience is largely due to the staff that projects the spirit of the period, and, with such an emphasis on service, gives the Hilton guests a modern time travel experience.

“With the overall and new concept of the 1920s, we’re pursuing the idea of taking our guests out of the everyday and letting them escape to another time, where they can enjoy life to the full. With these key ideas, we thought about design and service and consciously re-interpreted them,” says Hotel Manager Matthias Herd. “The new design of the hotel with Art Deco style and Bauhaus elements, which have been modernised for our building, provide us with the right space and atmosphere for our project.”

Right from the start, guests at the Hilton Vienna Plaza will experience a more personal service thanks to a newly developed reception concept—from the greeting to the departure, the ‘Plaza Hosts’ act as direct contacts.

In addition to this, the hotel provides authentic transport for a discovery tour of the city: vintage bicycles await the guests.

The catering and service keeps the golden era in mind too. The brasserie and EMILE bar spoils guests with cult drinks and exclusive dishes such as Coq au vin and Crêpes Suzette in an elegant ambience—there the classic Manhattan cocktails are served to the sound of Benny Goodman and Josephine Baker, and by waiters wearing authentic 1920s style hats. The new uniforms of the Hilton staff are modelled on the fashion of the 1920s in all service areas, which emphasizes the entire concept.

Besides 254 modern rooms and suites, the Hilton Vienna Plaza also offers 10 bright conference rooms fitted with the latest technology for up to 150 people. The generous Executive Lounge on the same floor can seat over 70, and can be booked for special meetings.

Both the renovations and the re-modelling are based on the prestigious history of the building and complement the features to ensure 21st century comfort. Even before the modernisation there were numerous Art Deco and Vienna Workshop style art works on display in the hotel—a tradition that should be upheld.
