Hawkins International Public Relations has announced the appointment of Jennifer A. Oberstein as Managing Director. A communications specialist with an impressive history of hotel promotion at the top end of the industry, Oberstein now oversees new business development and creative strategy for the New York-based PR firm.
Oberstein joins HIPR from The Leading Hotels of the World, a widely admired collection of more than 430 independent luxury hotels, resorts and spas in 80 countries. Over a four-year turn as Senior Director at LHW, she oversaw global development and execution of corporate communications, media relations, events, promotions and social media strategies. She also managed relationships and directed initiatives with LHW’s three global press agencies based in Russia, Germany and the United Kingdom, as well as seven in-house press managers in Australia, China, France, India, Italy, Japan and the United States.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Jennifer to Hawkins International,” said Jennifer Hawkins, President of the firm. “Jennifer is known in the hospitality industry for innovative and creative thinking. Her knowledge of the competitive marketplace and hospitality trends makes her an invaluable asset to our team.”
Previously, Oberstein was Regional Director of Public Relations for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. During a nine-year tenure, she devised and implemented many of the luxury hotel group’s most creative and successful publicity campaigns, generating considerable global coverage and revenue. Before jumping into the hotel world, she worked for five years as an associate producer for NBC News.
Oberstein arrives at HIPR with broad communications skills and expertise across the media spectrum – including broadcast, print, electronic and social networking outlets. Her on-property experience is similarly dazzling, making her uniquely familiar and understanding of the needs and expectations of both sides of the hotel/media equation. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in communications and history from the University of Pennsylvania.
