Shangri-La Hotel Tianjin to open in August

Shangri-La Tianjin_1Shangri-La Hotel, Tianjin’s reservation lines are now open for guestroom and event bookings. Catering to both business and leisure travellers, the hotel will open its doors on 8 August 2014.

The 304-room hotel is located in the new development area of Hedong District beside the city’s famous Haihe River. All guestrooms and suites have floor-to-ceiling windows offering spectacular views of the river and Tianjin’s signature colonial architecture lining the riverbank. Rooms start from a comfortable 48 square metres and are furnished in natural shades of light teakwood, gold and sea blue. Thirty-nine units of serviced apartments ranging from studios to one and two bedrooms are available for mid- to long-term accommodation. 

The hotel offers the largest banquet and meeting facilities in the city. Its 1,956-square-metre Grand Ballroom can accommodate up to 1,700 people; the Junior Ballroom is 380 square metres in size and features a spacious outdoor terrace with a breathtaking view of the city and river.  Eight additional function rooms of various sizes are perfect for intimate celebrations, business meetings and cocktail receptions.

Headed by Executive Chinese Chef Oliver Lai from Hong Kong, Shangri-La’s signature Shang Palace restaurant presents authentic Cantonese cuisine with local specialties by a team of skilled culinary experts. Shang Palace’s traditional, yet contemporary Oriental furnishing befits Tianjin, a city of old and new. Café Yun, the hotel’s bazaar-style all-day dining restaurant, features six theatre kitchens for à la minute requests offering international and local street cuisine and the freshest seasonal ingredients sourced locally and overseas.

The hotel provides a range of recreational facilities, such as a 24-hour gymnasium equipped with a range of cardio and weight equipment from LifeFitness; a temperature-controlled indoor swimming pool with glass frontage windows that look out onto the Haihe River; two outdoor tennis courts on the roof deck; and signature spa treatments at CHI.

The hotel is located within Tianjin Kerry Centre and is connected to a shopping mall with dining and entertainment options, including a 1,700-square-metre Kids Adventure Zone and an ice-skating rink (opening in November 2014).  It is a 30-minute drive from Tianjin Binhai International Airport, 10 minutes from Tianjin Railway Station and five minutes from the city’s Central Business District, which lies just over Baoding Bridge.
