Bob Edwards new GM at the Gilchrist Club near Gainsville, Florida

Bob Edwards_1000Benchmark Hospitality International has named Bob Edwards general manager for the Gilchrist Club, a Benchmark Resorts & Hotels property located in Trenton, Florida, nears Gainsville.  Greg Champion, Benchmark’s executive vice president and COO, made the announcement. 

“It is a pleasure to welcome Bob to the Benchmark Hospitality family, and to the Gilchrist Club,” said Mr. Champion.  “He knows the property and market well, and provides a unique set of skills that will benefit the resort and the hospitality team as they deliver an exceptional member and guest experience.”

This represents the second time Mr. Edwards was appointed general manager of the Gilchrist Club. He held the title, along with that of senior vice president, from 2010 to 2012 as well. Between these two leadership appointments at the Gilchrist Club, Mr. Edwards served as general manager of Kessler Canyon Ranch in DeBeque, Colorado.  He has served in the same position for Cheyenne Ridge Outfitter and Signature Lodge, located in Pierre, South Dakota, as well as the Deep Water Cay Club in the Bahamas. 

Throughout his career, Bob Edwards has held numerous leadership positions for properties throughout the United States and off shore. At times in his career, he has also owned and operated marine facilities, a sports marketing company, gun clubs and has served as a professional boat captain holding a 100 ton Master Captain’s license.

Mr. Edwards is a graduate of the Technical College of the Lowcountry, located in Beaufort, South Carolina, and has completed numerous leadership and management training programs. He has also served as founder and lead instructor for several outdoor sports programs.
