Four Seasons Austin debuts biodegradable key cards

Biodegradable key cardsFour Seasons Hotel Austin, which recently unveiled a multi-million dollar guest room redesign, is unlocking the hotel’s latest “acts of green” with the debut of biodegradable room key cards.  In keeping with the Hotel’s on-going effort to support sustainability, Four Seasons Hotel Austin is the first hotel in Texas to implement a 100 percent renewable wooden key card.

“We are thrilled to be able to introduce the biodegradable key cards and as the very first property in the state, it truly signifies our ongoing commitment to support sustainability,” says General Manager Rob Hagelberg. “The stylish wooden keys also compliment the overall enhancement aesthetic of the new luxury guest rooms featuring rich design details and thoughtful finishes.”

The PVC-free biodegradable key cards, made from certified sustainable Nordic birch wood, feature a guitar as a nod to the city’s unrivaled music scene. Most importantly, the key cards help reduce oil-based plastic waste, which is part of the hotel’s Zero Waste initiative.
