DoubleTree by Hilton London Docklands welcomes guests after major refurbishment

DoubleTree by Hilton

DoubleTree by Hilton has announced the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton London Docklands on the banks of the River Thames, following an extensive refurbishment and reflagging.

The hotel offers 378 guest rooms with views across London’s iconic River Thames to Canary Wharf, a key business, shopping and entertainment precinct. It is the only hotel in London with its own pier – taking full advantage of its waterfront location – and offers stylish, modern accommodation, restaurants, bars and event venues. The hotel’s contemporary architecture and design draws inspiration from the site’s heritage as the distinguished Rotherhithe shipping dock – beautifully mixing modern comforts with the site’s historical maritime charm.

John Greenleaf, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton, said, “The DoubleTree by Hilton London Docklands is just a two minute ferry ride across the River Thames to Canary Wharf, one of the world’s major global business districts, and near to international exhibition and event centers such as the O2 Arena and ExCel London. We are delighted to warmly welcome both business and leisure guests to this thriving London neighborhood.”

The hotel provides a crossriver shuttle ferry to the Canary Wharf Pier, where guests can easily access the Canary Wharf business and shopping district as well as London’s famous attractions downstream via Thames Clippers including the Tower of London, London Eye and Palaces of Westminster. Much of the site’s history has been preserved, including the former shipping docks, and the DoubleTree by Hilton London Docklands offers the only dry dock in London, perfect for a celebration under the stars.

Howard Lewis, general manager, DoubleTree by Hilton London Docklands, said, “With views of the River Thames from the hotel’s restaurant and bar and a majority of guestrooms, the DoubleTree by Hilton London Docklands offers a sanctuary for both business and leisure guests in London. The hotel is ideal to unwind after a long day and soak in the ambience created by Canary Wharf’s lights sparkling across the river. We are extremely excited to welcome guests to the newly refurbished hotel.”

Guests can enjoy contemporary dining experiences at the hotel’s restaurant Columbia, overlooking the Thames and Canary Wharf, private dining, intimate special events in the Snug as well as drinks and the outdoor kitchen along the Terrace. The hotel also caters for river cruises, offering bespoke menus for private boat hire events for between 12 to 48 people guests direct from the hotel pier.

The opening of DoubleTree by Hilton London Docklands expands the brand’s growing portfolio in the UK and Europe. The hotel joins 10 other DoubleTree by Hilton hotels in Greater London.
