Red Lion ditches in-room instant coffee for lobby coffeehouse

Red Lion coffee lobbyRLHC (Red Lion Hotels Corporation)  has announced Red Lion Hotels and Red Lion Inn & Suites will offer a lobby coffeehouse experience system-wide by the end of 2016, just as it is currently offered in the Hotel RL branded hotels. The announcement comes as the U.S. celebrated National Coffee Day on September 29.

“We will be known for our coffee experience,” said RLHC President & CEO Greg Mount. “We are rooted in the Pacific Northwest where the coffee culture began and we are focused on delivering that experience to our guests in our lobbies. As a result of this focus, we will end instant coffee in our guest rooms after 2016.”

Victrola Coffee is currently served complimentary in the lobbies of Hotel RL, which began with the August debut of the brand, Hotel RL Baltimore Inner Harbor.  Victrola Coffee, a favorite among coffee lovers, was founded in 2000 on Capitol Hill in Seattle. Victrola showcases the craft of coffee by barista-trained staff who prepare individual requests using the world’s finest beans, topped off with signature foam art creations.  These coffees, of which three recently earned a 94 from CoffeeReview.com, embody the essence of Seattle and its rain, waterfront and artists in the magic of its skilled roasters.

Whidbey Coffee, named for the beautiful Puget Sound island, will be served in the lobbies of Red Lion Hotels and Red Lion Inn & Suites by the end of 2016.  Each morning, guests can indulge in Whidbey Coffee selections that deliver a consistent and satisfying quality morning drink.

“RLHC as a hotel company is genuinely invested in the coffee experience of its guests,” said Dan Ollis, President of Vibe Coffee Group, Inc. and owner of the Victrola Coffee and Whidbey Coffee brands. “Together, we are going to change the expectations of hotel guests for their morning fix.”

“When we met the owner and staff from these award-winning coffee brands, Victrola and Whidbey, we knew they understood our vision,” said Mount.  “It’s more than just serving a great cup of coffee or latte, it’s about the Pacific Northwest culture and the passion for the experience.”
