Thailand-based ONYX Hospitality Group has appointed Robert Rijnders as its Senior Vice President and Area General Manager for Pattaya.

Rijnders started working with Amari Hotels & Resorts since the early 1980s; the very beginning when Amari was still known as Siam Lodge Group of Hotels. Being with the company for over 30 years, his multi-property operations experience has provided the firm better understanding of different traditions, cultures and business acumen of the hospitality industry.

Commenting on his executive move at ONYX, Rijnders said: “My journey with ONYX started in Pattaya, where I was the Executive Assistant Manager at Nipa Lodge Hotel in 1981 when the company only had three hotels. I spent many of the early years in Pattaya, and I am very much looking forward to overseeing our existing properties here, as well as the up and coming ones. It is a very exciting time for ONYX, as we expand into new territories, and develop new and additional properties in existing ONYX regions. Scheduled to open in May, Amari Residences Pattaya will be the third Amari property to open in 2016 following earlier launches in the Maldives and Koh Samui. The property will feature 173 modern units ranging from studios to two-bedroom units.”

With expertise in operational guidance and hands-on management, Rijnders will be overseeing the five existing Pattaya properties: Amari Pattaya, Amari Nova Suites Pattaya, Nova Gold Pattaya, Nova Park Pattaya and Nova Platinum Pattaya. Rijnders will also manage the pre-opening and opening of ONYX’s two newest properties in the region: Amari Residences Pattaya and Nova Express Pattaya.
