Carlson Rezidor has announced the signing of an agreement with real estate and investment firm Sun-Star Group, led by real estate developer Omar O’Rourke Martinez and his partner Thomas Wahl for the development and operation of Radisson Blu Resort & Spa Ajijic at Lake Chapala, Ajijic, Mexico. Construction of the 96-room hotel is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2016.

“We are seeing some tremendous momentum for our Radisson Blu brand in Latin America after recently opening our first two hotels in Brazil and another opening soon in Santiago, Chile,” said Javier Rosenberg, chief operating officer, Americas, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. “The addition of this hotel in Mexico further strengthens the brand’s global presence of nearly 400 hotels in operation and under development.”

Lake Chapala is a popular destination located within 50 kilometers of Guadalajara, Mexico’s second largest city, and located within 25 minutes of Guadalajara’s international airport as well as El Salto, an important industrial corridor and home to the Mexican and Latin American headquarters for many multi-national corporations.
