DoubleTree by Hilton has announced the opening of the brand’s second hotel in Chile: DoubleTree by Hilton Calama in the capital city of Chile’s El Loa Province. Originally opened in 2010, the now converted DoubleTree by Hilton Calama is currently undergoing a property-wide, enhancement project, scheduled to be completed by Q2 2016, which will introduce guests to refreshed guestrooms, public spaces, meeting rooms and other amenities.

“We are very excited to be the first international hotel brand in this important business and industry center in Northern Chile,” said John Greenleaf, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton. “DoubleTree by Hilton Calama is the second hotel for the brand in Chile and we are eager for guests visiting the region to experience the warmth of our DoubleTree by Hilton culture, starting with our iconic chocolate chip cookie welcome at check-in and continuing throughout their stay with us.”

DoubleTree by Hilton Calama offers guests convenient access to the El Loa Airport as well as the city’s commercial and financial centers. Featuring a contemporary design allowing for natural light and a welcoming atmosphere, the hotel offers 148 guestrooms providing everything travelers need to relax and stay productive, including complimentary Wi-Fi, spacious work desks, 37-inch LCD televisions and balconies with city views. The hotel also features an executive floor with larger rooms as well as an executive lounge serving complimentary breakfast and daily snacks. Guests of DoubleTree by Hilton Calama will also enjoy the full-service amenities business and leisure travelers seek, including an on-site restaurant, in-room dining, a fitness center with an indoor pool and sauna, a business center as well as 9,000 square feet of flexible meeting space.

Set in the scenic Atacama Desert, 70 miles from San Pedro de Atacama, the biggest attraction in Northern Chile, the city of Calama served as the meeting point between two ancient Inca Trails. It provides the perfect access point to visit geological and archaeological wonders of Chile’s high central desert as well as Chuquicamata Mine, once the biggest open pit copper mine in the world.
