The Katamama all-suite boutique hotel set to open in Bali in November

Opening in November 2015, The Katamama will be a 58-suite boutique hotel with five-star facilities located on one of the last parcels of land in Seminyak, the island of Bali’s most prestigious ocean-side region.

The hotel is the creation of PTT Family. Headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia PTT Family is concerned with the diverse yet complementary fields of food and beverage, entertainment, hotels, residential development, art and fashion. PTT Family’s portfolio includes the internationally acclaimed ‘Potato Head Beach Club’ in Bali, a 20 villa estate synonymous with leading edge environmental design, an art gallery and restaurants and bars in Jakarta and Singapore.

The conception of The Katamama was a natural evolution of PTT Family’s expertise in developing restaurants and bars known not only for their culinary quality and achievements but also for their unique design, creative programming and warm familial service.

Renowned Indonesian architect and long-time PTT Family collaborator Andra Martin will design The Katamama, with interiors a partnership between the owners and the Singapore based design company Takenouchi Webb. Warm and inviting, yet steadfastly elegant, contemporary and sophisticated, the interiors of the hotel will be finished with Indonesian materials such as Balinese bricks, teak, hand-made tiles from Java and terrazzo made on site.

With only 58 suites, The Katamama is intimate and serene, offering some of the largest living spaces of any hotel in Bali, in each of its categories. Each of the suites will be filled with curated artwork, handpicked furniture and cherished collectibles, many of them originally part of the owners’ personal collections. All suites at the hotel will feature plentiful outdoor space, whether balconies, secluded gardens or individual pools. Unique in Bali will be the One-bedroom Penthouses, at 268 sqm these two storey suites offer internal access to a rooftop garden complete with stunning ocean views, a spa bath and rain shower and dining and lounge areas with bar.

The crowning glory of the hotel will be the Presidential Penthouse suite, housing two bedrooms and a completely private rooftop garden with picture perfect ocean views.

Dining at The Katamama will be courtesy of MoVida. With five sites across Australia and best-selling cookbooks to its name, MoVida at The Katamama will be the iconic company’s first international venture. MoVida Next Door, Head Chef Jimmy Parker, will develop the menu to account for the Balinese climate and lifestyle.

‘Akademi’, The Katamama’s bar is unique in the hotel world. Designed by award winning mixologist Dre Masso, Akademi is a hub for the world’s most celebrated and innovative mixologists and a centre for the craft. Located in the hotel lobby, Akademi offers hotel guests and visitors a curated selection of cocktails, utilising the finest ingredients. Akademi will also host a roster of up and coming local talent, creating a bar that is the heart of The Katamama and unlike any other.

The Katamama will be ideal for travellers seeking not only a haven of tranquillity and beauty in Bali, but a refuge with large pool deck and direct access to Potato Head Beach Club’s world famous atmosphere. The hotel will be a space offering physical and spiritual balance, in harmony with the island from which it was born while remaining of the absolute highest calibre demanded by today’s experienced international traveller.
