dusitD2 Nairobi celebrates grand opening

The grand opening of the dusitD2 Nairobi, Dusit International’s first hotel in sub-Saharan Africa, took place recently on 30th March.

Nestled along Nairobi’s leafy and secure Riverside Drive suburb, it’s just minutes from the clamour of the central business district and merely a stone’s throw away from the heart of Westlands. This is the company’s second foray into Africa, following the launch of the Dusit Thani LakeView Cairo in Egypt in 2009.

dusitD2, Dusit International’s “next generation” hotel brand, caters to today’s international travellers seeking cutting-edge design, high-tech connectivity and efficient, modern convenience in environments that are contemporary, colourful and chic. This concept is brought to life through dusitD2 Nairobi’s interior design, with its creative and striking artworks on display throughout public areas, the plug n’ play facilities in each of its lavish 101 guest rooms and suites, and even in the inventive cuisine available at its three stunning international restaurants.

Guests were welcomed to an “East meets East” themed inauguration cocktail at the hotel’s brand new Rouge Deck, located alongside its striking red swimming pool. Guests enjoyed an evening of Thai and Kenyan dance performances, as well as signature dusitD2 Nairobi drinks and snacks, in an event where the very best of Thai and Kenyan culture and cuisine converged.

“We are extremely proud of the dusitD2 Nairobi,” commented Mr Snehal Sanghrajka. “We believe our hotel has raised the standard of the local hospitality scene and set a new benchmark for quality, service and innovation. Partnering with Dusit and melding their iconic brand of gracious Thai hospitality with our Kenyan style and creativity has really been a key differentiator for us, and we are delighted to collaborate with Dusit on this project.”

“This is such an exciting moment and we are thrilled to witness the Grand Opening of the dusitD2 Nairobi,” commented Mr Chanin Donavanik. “This hotel, being the first in Kenya to be managed by an Asian operator, serves as a great example of a collaboration between two companies sharing one vision. I would like to congratulate my partners on this significant achievement and we look forward to a long and successful business relationship in years to come. This is only the first of many projects for Dusit in sub-Saharan Africa, as we look to solidify our presence on the continent.”
