Ames Boston Hotel, a luxurious boutique hotel that opened in 2007 following an extensive renovation, and the newest member of Curio – A Collection by Hilton, along with the newly merged Benchmark Resorts & Hotels and Gemstone Hotels and Resorts, is pleased to announce the appointment of hospitality veteran Trish Berry to the position of General Manager. As she assumes leadership of the iconic property known as “Boston’s first skyscraper,” Berry will draw on nearly 30 years of experience in the high-end hotel and residence industries.
Located in the heart of downtown Boston, just steps away from historic Faneuil Hall and Beacon Hill, Ames Boston Hotel is in the midst of a multi-million dollar renovation project that will bring sweeping changes to the hotel’s common and meeting spaces, refreshing touches to guestrooms, and will include the addition of Cultivar, a new restaurant by acclaimed chef Mary Dumont that will serve “modern American garden cuisine” to guests.
“Trish’s exemplary reputation, hands-on experience and proven track record make her the ideal candidate for the General Manager position at Ames Boston Hotel,” said Jeff McIntyre, Co-President of Benchmark Resorts & Hotels and Gemstone Hotels and Resorts. “As the potential of the Ames Boston Hotel becomes realized with the completed renovations, addition of Cultivar, and transition to Curio, Trish will be an integral part of the team leading the repositioning effort.”
Most recently, Berry held General Manager positions at the AAA Four Diamond-rated Battery Wharf Hotel in Boston, where she oversaw a successful transition from a branded property (Fairmont) to a fully independent hotel, and The Ritz-Carlton Residences Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland, where she managed a sprawling 191 unit luxury condominium residence that included spa, marina and restaurant amenities. Previously, Berry resided in the Washington, D.C.-area and served as the General Manager of The Sports Club/LA, and General Manager of Hotel Monaco for Kimpton Hotel and Restaurant Group. Upon graduating from Clemson University, Berry launched her career in the hospitality sect with the prestigious Ritz-Carlton brand.
“With the hotel industry going through an evolution unlike what we’ve seen in the past, which includes a major trend towards guests seeking out distinctive accommodations, Ames Boston Hotel has a unique ability to cater to the needs and preferences of today’s modern traveler,” said Berry. “With the recent unveiling of renovated lobby and common spaces, and the upcoming addition of acclaimed Chef Mary Dumont’s Cultivar restaurant, the Ames Boston Hotel is ready to reemerge as the premier property enjoyed by both business and leisure travelers, as well as Bostonians.”
In her new role as General Manager of the Ames Boston Hotel, Berry will utilize her extensive operations and leadership experience to fully complete the installation of all Curio assets, while simultaneously overseeing the critical areas of guest relations, marketing, and new business development. Berry will work collectively with key team members, including hotel ownership and Hilton’s Curio brand, to revitalize and drive awareness of the iconic, distinctly Boston property that was originally constructed in 1893.
