Marcel StittnerTabacón Thermal Resort & Spa welcomes new General Manager Marcel Stittner. A graduate of Cornell University, Stittner brings 22 years of industry experience to Costa Rica’s leading thermal springs and spa resort.
Hailing from Germany, Stittner began his hospitality career in 1994 as a certified hotel expert. Over the last two decades, he’s honed his skills in management and food and beverage operations at global chains such as Starwood Hotels & Resorts and InterContinental Hotels Group, managing five-star resort properties in destinations that include Venezuela, Maldives, Germany, the United States, Mexico and Costa Rica.
Most recently, Stittner was Assistant General Manager at Excellence Playa Mujeres Cancún, where he oversaw daily operations, optimized employee productivity and managed a team of approximately 800 associates. Prior to this, he was Director of Food & Beverage at the Sheraton San Jose, where he oversaw its F&B program, managed in-house marketing and banquet sales, and implemented a brand new restaurant concept.

Stittner is a passionate leader who is eager to make a significant contribution to the ongoing success of Tabacón, while continuing to position the property as an integral part of nature with an emphasis on innovation and sustainability. In his new role as General Manager, Stittner will oversee daily operations in alignment with the company’s ongoing efforts to create memorable experiences, elevate standards and exceed guest expectations.
