With the recent announcement by Four Seasons and owners Rajawali Property Group of an all-new Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta in Capital Place to replace the brand’s previous location on Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said, the company has appointed Christian Poda as General Manager.

“It’s a distinct pleasure to promote Christian to his first assignment as General Manager in his illustrious career with Four Seasons,” says William Mackay, Four Seasons President, Hotel Operations – Asia Pacific.  “In his most recent position as Hotel Manager at Four Seasons in Pudong, Shanghai, he’s proven his talent and skill as a hotelier in leading an international team and providing thoughtful, personalised service to our guests from around the world. As Four Seasons reopens in Jakarta, Christian is the ideal ambassador for our brand.”

Born in Germany where his hospitality career also began, Poda’s education includes completion of the General Managers Program at Cornell University in the US.  His Four Seasons career began in Berlin before moving to San Francisco. In 2007, he relocated to Asia where he added Mandarin as a third language, and has remained ever since. Progressive positions in the rooms divisions in Shanghai, Singapore, Maldives and Hong Kong led him to Four Seasons Hotel Pudong, Shanghai, where he oversaw all hotel operations and a staff of 340.

“It’s an honour to continue the legacy of service excellence that Four Seasons has in Jakarta, and to introduce a new era in luxury hospitality to the city,” says Poda. “We’re just a few months away from opening, but with the backing of our owners and a market that has been awaiting our return, I’m very excited to embark on this new chapter.”
