Four Seasons Hotel Beijing announces the promotion of Andrew De Brito to General Manager. De Brito has served as Hotel Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Beijing since August 2013.

A native of Malaysia, Andrew’s passion for hotels is in his blood. His father had a notable career with Pan Pacific Hotels until his retirement, and his brother is the resort manager of a boutique hotel in Phuket, Thailand. Though it appears Andrew is following in his father’s footsteps, his career in hotels was initially a rebellion – he became a server at the Concorde Hotel, Kuala Lumpur in his youth, even as his father encouraged him to build on his natural abilities in maths and physics and pursue engineering. While at the Concorde, Andrew fell in love with the fast-paced life of food and beverage and knew he had found his calling.

Andrew joined the Regent, Kuala Lumpur in 1992, embarking on what was to be a long and distinguished career in hotel management, including holding three positions as Department Head in Kuala Lumpur, and serving for two years as Assistant Director of Food and Beverage. Beginning in 2000, Andrew gained impressive international experience, serving as the Food & Beverage Director at Four Seasons in Kuda Huraa, Langkawi, Mumbai and Shanghai before heading to the US to work for two years at Four Seasons Resort Aviara. In July 2011, he was promoted to Hotel Manager of Four Seasons Hotel Jakarta, where he stayed for one year before joining the opening of the another luxury hotel in Shanghai from June 2012 to July 2013. Andrew joined Four Seasons Hotel Beijing just eight months after it opened in 2013.

Andrew’s promotion is extraordinarily well-deserved. Working in partnership with the dynamic former General Manager, Andrew was the driving force behind the Artist in Residence Program and a series of pop-ups, and energisng the lounge by introducing a DJ. His hero is Steve Jobs, and like the master businessman himself, Andrew has a sharp eye for detail and is constantly on the lookout for new ideas to incorporate into the hotel during his extensive travels. He believes wholeheartedly in the motto, “If you love what you do, you don’t have to work a single day in your life.”
