W Fort Lauderdale is pleased to welcome Anna MacDiarmid, a 30+ year veteran of the Starwood brand, as the property’s new General Manager. In her position, MacDiarmid will oversee all hotel services and staff development including maintaining guest satisfaction, profitability and employee moral.

Most recently, MacDiarmid held the role of GM at the W New York, the first W Hotel to ever open its doors. However, her impressive career began in her hometown at The Westin Winnipeg in Manitoba, Canada. She scaled the hotel management ladder at the 1,000+ room property, where she was eventually promoted to her first General Manager position after mastering all areas of hotel operations, including the food & beverage, rooms, and sales departments.

With a strong passion for the hospitality industry, MacDiarmid then moved on to gain extensive experience as the General Manager of three NY-based W hotels over the past 10 years, including: W Times Square in 2006, the W Hoboken in 2008, where she managed the property through its opening, and then at the original W, the W New York in 2011.

“Over the past 33 years I have had the exciting opportunity to experience different hotels, different cities, and make lasting connections with guests and talent alike. But through it all, my love for the business of hospitality remains the same and it is what fuels me in all of my endeavors,” said MacDiarmid. “That certainly hasn’t changed now as I move from NY to sunny Fort Lauderdale, and I am looking forward to making even more lasting connections with the our customers, the community and the amazing team at the W Fort Lauderdale.”
