The 55-hotel City Lodge Hotel Group, which has hotels in South Africa, Kenya and Botswana, has appointed Lindiwe Sangweni-Siddo as Divisional Director, Operations.
Well-known in the South African hotel industry, she joins the group from the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre. She was Managing Director of the Birchwood Management Company from July 2011 to January 2012, when she became Chief Executive Officer.
Lindiwe was General Manager of the InterContinental Sandton Towers for four years from 2000 to 2004 and has held various other positions in the local hospitality industry, including being a council member of the Tourism BEE Charter Council from 2012.
She is also the force behind an innovative hospitality project in Soweto, the sprawling area on the western outskirts of Johannesburg.
She joins three other divisional operations directors based in Johannesburg, South Africa. One of her major roles within the City Lodge Hotel Group will be to oversee the four-star Courtyard Hotel brand. City Lodge also owns the City Lodge Hotel, Town Lodge and Road Lodge brands.
Armed with a diploma in hotel management from the Swiss Hotel Association, Ecole Les Roches, in Switzerland, she also has a BSc Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management from the Penn State University in the United States.
