Florida’s South Beach has earned a reputation of being one of the world’s most celebrated nightlife destinations. However, Kimpton’s Surfcomber Miami, South Beach aims to be the place for visitors and guests to “get social” by day and enjoy the area’s rich, fun and dynamic “daylife” while the sun is out. Between pool dips and beachfront sun-bathing, guests will find plenty to do – or do nothing at all – thanks to a carefully mapped daily calendar of “social hours” created by the hotel’s resident expert and host of all that is “daylife,” Chase Mitchell, Surfcomber’s newly appointed Director of Daylife.

Mitchell’s assignment? To direct guests and visitors to all of the destination’s exciting offerings, while creating “sun-filled” experiences guests won’t find at other South Beach hotels.

Mitchell’s role has evolved together with the hotel’s own communal outdoor playground, which places Surfcomber’s pool deck at center stage. A prime place for sun-worshippers thanks to the hotel’s tropical palms and landscaping, which allow for unobstructed views of the clear skies above, it boasts the most hours of sun from sunrise to sunset than any other hotel along the beach. Mitchell’s array of daytime activities includes beach yoga in the mornings, National holiday activation, cocktail classes with the hotel’s resident mixologist, and “Fun Runs with Chase”.

“Our goal is for guests to ‘get social’ with us and each other during their stay and visit to South Beach,” said Donte Johnson, General Manager of Surfcomber Miami, South Beach. “And while the destination offers a truly world-class nightlife experience, the daylife is not to be missed! Chase brings unmatched energy and enthusiasm to Surfcomber. He has a passion for people and a way of creating genuine connections with each guest ensuring that they take home memorable experiences of their time here.”

Chase has been with Kimpton Hotels for more than five years, starting out in guest services at the Hotel Rouge in Washington, D.C., and later promoted to Supervisor of Front Desk Operations within two years. Prior to joining Kimpton, Chase served as a Front Desk Manager and Event Coordinator for Weddings and Banquets at The Inn at Claussen. His love of the hospitality industry took him as far as Dublin, Ireland, where he served in various guest services positions across three hotels.

“As Director of Daylife, I strive to surprise and delight each and every Surfcomber guest while staying with us,” said Mitchell. “On an average day, I cover a lot of ground throughout the hotel – whether I’m greeting guests in the lobby or socializing on the pool deck – and I thoroughly enjoy it!”

Surfcomber chose to up the ante with their daylife programming by giving guests countless excuses to come out and play and enjoy the sun, surf and sand. From bike tours and water sports to Cuban coffee hour and Kimpton’s daily wine hour, Mitchell serves as the hotel’s host and activities director making sure guests are fully enjoying the South Beach experience – day and night.
