The AAA Five Diamond Grand Velas Riviera Maya on Mexico’s Caribbean Coast has appointed Maître Cuisinier de France Michel Mustiere as Executive Chef, effective immediately. Mustiere brings with him more than 25 years of culinary experience in various countries and different prestigious restaurants and hotels worldwide. Formerly Executive Chef of the resort’s award-winning French restaurant, Mustiere is one of only seven chefs in Mexico, 300 in the world to attain the prestigious Master Chef title.

“Grand Velas resorts have earned a much deserved reputation for culinary excellence. I’ve been privileged to have studied and worked with two of the world’s cuisines designated part of UNESCO’s cultural heritage, French and Mexican. I look forward to applying this knowledge and my passion to bring the restaurants and bars at Grand Velas Riviera Maya to even greater heights with new food experiences and events,” said Mustiere.

In October, Chef Michel will be joined by three other Maîtres Cuisiniers de France, Chefs Christian Têtedoie, Claude Le-Tohic and Claude Godard, to present a Best of France Riviera Maya dining experience at Grand Velas Riviera Maya. Sharing a kitchen, restaurant and passion for creating an amazing culinary experience, the decorated chefs will each prepare different dishes of the 10-course dinner with wine pairing to be served October 14-18th each evening in the resort’s Piaf restaurant.

Chef Mustiere is an active member of Chaîne des Rôtisseurs and Culinaire de France Academy.
