Keemala appoints Dr. Cherisse Yang as Wellness and Cuisine Consultant

Cherisse YangCherisse Yang has joined Keemala to orchestrate innovative gastronomy, spa and activity choices for the new Phuket resort, all with a touch of wholeness and well-being.

Yang is a seasoned wellness consultant who has worked with individuals and organisations throughout Southeast Asia and New Zealand. She has led and supported individual clients in transforming their own lives and achieving greater health through both culinary education and holistic therapy. Her passion for creating culinary programs for wellness-oriented food businesses, driving program designs, implementation of the ‘wellness’ philosophy and successful associate training has brought her to Keemala as a wellness and cuisine consultant.

Cherisse is a registered chiropractor in Hong Kong and New Zealand, and a graduate of the Living Light Culinary Arts Institute in California where she trained to become a Certified Gourmet Raw Food Chef and Instructor. Well versed with healthy brands in Asia, Cherisse has worked for The Sanctuary in Hong Kong, Absolute Sanctuary in Koh Samui and has recently overseen the Absolute Fit Food brand in Bangkok. As well as her formal education and training, she has studied with a range of traditional healers and traditional Chinese medicine, while Western naturopathy also influence her approach.

Cherisse explains of her vision for the resort, “I strongly believe in the importance of integrating Western scientific understanding and Eastern philosophy, which fits the Keemala ethos of its celebration and cultivation of Thai culture perfectly.” She continues, “This is intensely perceived in the spa. Treatments and holistic programs are being meticulously designed to utilize long-gone techniques, and organic herbs are being used as medicinal remedies in conjunction with old-fashioned pampering”.

Keemala will boast eight treatment rooms in its spa, offering a haven of renewal. The resort also plans to host visiting practitioners for enlightening and interesting retreats.

As an extension of the wholesome spirit of Keemala, gastronomy offered will also be organic and locally sourced and grown where possible. The menus will incorporate healthy, nutritious and above all delicious cuisine. Keemala will offer several outlets for dining, the main restaurant with adjoined relaxed bar, a pool restaurant, and an intimate wine cellar ideal for private dining and small gatherings. Destination dining will be offered to guests who would like to enjoy the ambience of somewhere distinct, perhaps beside the waterfall, or in the comfort of their villa or cottage.
