Jean-Yves Blatt appointed GM at The Chedi Andermatt

Jean-Yves BlattA little more than a year after The Chedi Andermatt’s debut, the hotel’s management company, GHM, has named a permanent replacement to the pre-opening/launch General Manager.

Jean-Yves Blatt assumed charge of the 101-room hotel on March 4, succeeding the property’s first GM, Alain Bachmann, who relocated in July to Indonesia where he now leads another GHM property, The Chedi Club Tanah Gajah Ubud in Bali.

Since 2005, Blatt has worked at the Grand Park Hotel in Gstaad, for the past six years as general manager. Previously, he worked at the Lausanne Palace Spa and Hotel Le Mirador (now Le Mirador Kempinski) in Mont-Pèlerin.

A 50-year-old native of Switzerland, and a graduate of the famed Lausanne Hotel School, Blatt’s career in hospitality is distinguished by its concentrated focus — in Switzerland and with properties clustered among the upper ranks of the world’s most esteemed hotels.

“Guests of The Chedi Andermatt are looking for the consummate Swiss experience, across every conceivable avenue of their stay, from cuisine to management,” said GHM President Hans R. Jenni. “And in Jean-Yves, after an exhaustive search among managers with a very specific skill-set and very compelling experience, we found exactly the leadership we’d hoped to find.”

While GHM conducted its eight-month search, two interim general managers shepherded the hotel through the latter half of 2014 as the property collected some of the most renowned awards in the hospitality industry.

The hotel won placement on both the Condé Nast Traveler Hot List, and the Travel + Leisure It List, each reserved for the world’s most astonishing new properties. Closer to home, Europe’s Newspaper of the Year, SonntagsZeitung, hailed The Chedi Andermatt as Switzerland’s top hotel in December.
