The upcoming volume features playlists curated by industry tastemakers: Sony/ATV – the world’s largest music publishing company, with more than 2.8 million copyrights owned and administered; Nettwerk Music Group – one of the most influential independent record labels and management companies known for storming towards the genesis of a new music model, and seeking out artists like fun., Family of The Year and Passenger; and Vagrant Records – headquartered in Los Angeles, is amongst the preeminent indie record music labels, proudly being home to artists such as The 1975, Bombay Bicycle Club and Edward Sharpe.
“Music is the single strand of DNA that runs through everything we do at Hard Rock, it is a universal language that resonates with everyone,” said Matthew Watts, Director of Music and Marketing at Hard Rock Hotels & Casinos. “By partnering with wildly differentiating, yet renowned names within the music industry, we are able to showcase a variety of musical styles, connecting guests with the ever-evolving lifeline of our brand – music – while continuing to amplify our signature music amenity program.”
Hard Rock teamed up with Sony/ATV Music Group’s Latin division to introduce fans worldwide to the music industry’s growing sector – Latin music – with the “Resort” playlist, the first of three in the Volume Eleven Collection. The rising popularity of Latin culture coupled with the growth of the Latino population in the United States has led to a Latin music invasion. Featuring some of the biggest names in Latin music, the playlist opens with Ricky Martin’s “Adios,” the global superstar’s newest hit single and the first taste of his 10th studio album, released in three different languages to reflect the artist’s multi-cultural appeal. The “Resort” playlist also flaunts the sounds of widely recognized Latin names, such as Luis Fonsi and the first single from his yet to be released 8th studio album, “Corazon en la Maleta,” and reggaeton megastars Wisin’s “Adicto,” and Yandel’s “Dejate Amar.”
Revamping the “City” playlist, Hard Rock partnered with Nettwerk Music Group to create an assortment of tracks and artists, celebrating the latest pioneers meshing gritty indie rock sounds of Current Swell and modernized pop harmonies of Ghost Beach, a group that rose by setting the internet ablaze with a couple of independently released singles. Continuing its theme of celebrating evolving artistic expressions and influences from various genres, the playlist opens with Run River North’s “Monsters Calling Home,” showcasing brilliant harmonies paired with layers of instrumentations that have quickly become the Korean-American band’s signature folk-rock sound. Additionally, the “City” playlist features Sydney-based indie four-piece Boy & Bear’s “Bridges”, whose soothing rock combine the roots of the genre with the melodic sounds of pop-infused indie tunes, as well as the latest from indie-rock quartet Current Swell, a group that has been building up momentum in the music world over the past decade.
The final playlist on the tracks. Vol.11 collection, “Players”, curated by Vagrant Records, recognizes artists who have forged their own brand of indie rock, much like the label’s rags to riches story inspired by fierce individuality leading to the label boasting a strong, diverse, active roster. From Vagrant’s humble beginnings with their Before You Were Punk compilations, to gold albums and MTV Video Music Awards, the independent label has been a dominant force in the indie scene for the past decade. English indie rock heartthrobs and one of the this year’s most recognized bands, The 1975, appear on the list with “Girls,” one of several hit singles from their self-titled 2013 debut. The upbeat and harmonious sounds of The 1975 are complemented by the lingering and almost haunting melodies of Bombay Bicycle Club’s “Home By Now,” the band’s fifth single from their critically acclaimed fourth album. Other names in the playlist include rising artists, such as Nashville’s Justin Townes Earle, winner of the Americana Music Award for Song of the Year in 2011, whose canny lyricism, strong songwriting and tender baritone voice rivals only that of his father Steve Earle and continues to push the Americana-folk genre to new heights.
Appealing to the modern business or leisure traveler, the three elements of The Sound of Your Stay create an unparalleled, authentic experience, allowing guests to channel their inner rock star –whether setting the mood with one of three playlists, nailing power chords on a Fender guitar during a jam session or matching beats and remixing like a professional DJ on a Traktor Kontrol mixer. As the first of its kind, this groundbreaking amenity program sets the industry standard in interactive programming, designed to provide guests with an all-encompassing music experience in the comfort of their hotel room.
