M&R Hotel Management, operator of 10 New York hotels, has announced the appointment of Kevin Chang as general manager of the 129-room Holiday Inn Express New York JFK Airport near John F. Kennedy International Airport in Jamaica, New York.
Chang, a 23-year hospitality industry veteran who has managed hotels in New York and California, will oversee all aspects of the hotel’s operations including sales, marketing, security, maintenance, housekeeping and accounting.
Prior to joining M&R Hotel Management, Chang was general manager of The Parc Hotel in Flushing, New York, front office director of the Petit Hermitage Hotel in West Hollywood, California, operations manager of the Hotel Erwin in Venice Beach, California, assistant general manager of the La Quinta Hotel at LAX Airport in Los Angeles and general manager of the Hotel 41 at Times Square in New York.
“Kevin’s extensive experience in the hotel industry, including at a select-service airport hotel, makes him a strong choice to lead the team at our Holiday Inn Express New York JFK Airport,” said Brian M. McSherry, M&R Hotel Management chief operating officer.
Chang earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration at California State University, Long Beach. He holds certification in training from the Educational Institute of the American Hotel & Lodging Association and in fire safety fitness from the New York City Fire Department. He is fluent in English and Cantonese.
The Holiday Inn Express New York JFK Airport at 153-70 South Conduit Ave. features king, queen and double rooms, 24-hour fitness and business centers and a guest laundry. Complimentary amenities include shuttle service to JFK, Express Start hot breakfast, Wi-Fi throughout the building, bottled water and daily newspaper.
The hotel is one of four M&R hotels near JFK including the 201-room Holiday Inn New York JFK Airport, 75-room Days Inn Jamaica – JFK Airport and the 88-room Best Western JFK Airport.
M&R Hotel Management, based in Great Neck, also owns and operates three hotels in Manhattan, one near LaGuardia Airport in Queens and two in Staten Island. The company plans to open the Holiday Inn Staten Island this year.

M&R’s business plan calls for expansion of its portfolio in the New York metropolitan area and beyond through third-party management contracts.
