InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile is pleased to announce the appointment of William Bennett as Director of Sales and Marketing, effective immediately. Bringing over 15 years of experience in property sales management to his new position, Bennett will oversee all sales, marketing, and public relations efforts for the historic hotel along Chicago’s famed Michigan Avenue.
“We are thrilled to welcome Bill to our team as Director of Sales,” says InterContinental Chicago General Manager Raymond Vermolen. “His wealth of experience in hotel sales makes him the ideal candidate for the position, perfectly poised to help elevate our stature in the industry.”
A Chicago native, Bennett has overseen the sales and marketing efforts for a number of Chicago area Westin and Wyndham Hotels. He accepted his first Director of National Sales position at Wyndham Hotel NSO in Chicago, before spending a year as Director of Sales and Marketing for Wyndham Resort & Spa in Fort Lauderdale, FL. In 2000, Bennett moved back to Chicago to accept a position as Director of Sales & Marketing for Westin Chicago River North, where he eventually transitioned into his role as Director of Sales Operations for both Westin Chicago River North and Sheraton Chicago.
In 2003, Bennett was named area Director of Sales & Marketing at Wyndham Chicago Hotel where he oversaw the sales operations of all eight Wyndham Midwest hotels and effectively exceeded Wyndham’s booking goal by 1.2 million. After the property was sold, Bennett moved to Omni Chicago Hotel where he remained area Director of Sales & Marketing for eight years. His team was awarded sales team of the year in 2006 and exceeded booking goals every year by a minimum index of 118%. His most recent position prior to joining InterContinental Chicago was as Director of Sales and Marketing for Loews Chicago Hotel.
