InterContinental Singapore announces the appointment of three key senior executives of the leadership team.
With a scheduled multi-million dollar refurbishment programme of the hotel’s guestrooms, restaurants and public areas slated to commence in the 4th quarter of 2014, the new appointments are well placed to ensure that the hotel continues to provide a truly exceptional and luxurious experience for guests during and post refurbishment.
Executive Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage
Thomas Gebler, Executive Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage, will lead the team in driving food and beverage excellence in the hotel’s banquet operations, as well as in the four food and beverage outlets which include signature Cantonese restaurant Man Fu Yuan, all-day dining restaurant Olive Tree, Lobby Lounge as well as Victoria Bar.
With over 12 years of experience, Thomas brings with him a wealth of knowledge and creativity that will set the tone for the vision towards an innovative and excellent epicurean experience for diners ahead. He will also work closely with InterContinental Singapore’s Executive Chef Eric Neo to conceptualise and revitalise dining concepts post refurbishment.
Originally from Germany, Thomas was most recently with Rosewood Abu Dhabi, where he held the role of Director of Food & Beverage, and was part of the hotel’s pre-opening team responsible for the launch of six restaurants, four bars and a lounge. Prior to joining Rosewood Abu Dhabi, Thomas was instrumental in the successful opening of 11 food and beverage outlets at Waldorf Astoria, Shanghai and held a role in a similar capacity at Hotel Astoria, St Petersburg Russia, where he was based for four years.
Director of Marketing Communications and Public Relations
Lim Ee Jin joins as Director of Marketing Communications and Public Relations, where she heads up the marketing communications and public relations functions in the hotel. Her key responsibilities include the delivery of consistently high standards of the InterContinental experience across all branded touch points, and leading the team to drive communication strategies that will establish InterContinental Singapore as a preferred luxury hotel in Singapore.
Ee Jin joins from Fairmont Singapore and Swissotel The Stamford as Director of Marketing Communications, responsible for the overall strategic direction and planning of the marketing and communications for the two hotels, which encompass over 2,000 rooms, 15 restaurants and bars, Raffles City Convention Centre and Willow Stream Spa. She most recently spearheaded the marketing campaign for the repositioning of Fairmont Singapore after an extensive 10-month renovation.
Her earlier career highlights include holding the portfolio of Assistant Vice President, Marketing Communications and Public Relations at Meritus Hotels & Resorts where she took on the task of refreshing the brand identity of the Meritus group. Ee Jin joined Meritus Hotels & Resorts in 2006 where she served as Director of Marketing Communications at Marina Mandarin and subsequently moved to Mandarin Orchard in 2008 in a similar capacity before being promoted in 2010 to the role of Assistant Vice President, Marketing Communications and Public Relations.
Director of Engineering
Edwin Tan, Director of Engineering, joins from Singapore Marriot Hotel, where he held the role of Director of Engineering for close to three years. During his tenure, he managed the refurbishment of the hotel’s guestrooms, lobby, food and beverage outlets and other public areas. Prior to that, Edwin worked at the Shangri-La Hotel Singapore as Engineering Manager.
A strong advocate of green initiatives, Edwin is also a qualified Fire Safety and Food Safety Manager, and holds a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification, an improvement management system adopted by many organisations to realise the vision of operational excellence. With Edwin’s extensive experience and leadership, he will guide the team through a successful refurbishment of the hotel and achieve more green accolades in line with the brand’s vision to be a responsible business.
