IHG, Greater China has announced the appointment of David Lim as Director of Operations, Sichuan, Chongqing and ETG Portfolio Hotels. In his new role, David will be leading all IHG managed hotels in Sichuan and Chongqing, excluding Holiday Inn Express brand, and continue to be based at the InterContinental Century City Chengdu as the hotel, General Manager and also continue to lead ETG strategic partnership with the largest Greater China owner of IHG in terms of system size and revenues.
David has 27 years of hotel experience in Singapore and China where he accrued his expertise with several hotel companies such as Beaufort Resort, Marco Polo, Mandarin Oriental, Ritz Carlton and Millenium & Copthorne, before joining IHG in 2002 at Crowne Plaza Shenzhen. He joined InterContinental Century City Chengdu as the Complex General Manager since 2008 and was promoted to Area General Manager eight months later. In this role, he won two “Top Ten” General Manager Awards and the Multi-Unit Operation Leader of the Year Award for IHG Greater China. He led the team to achieve strong financial performance and two of his hotels were among the top CTP contributors in IHG Greater China.
In 2012, David was promoted to Regional General Manager of the ETG Portfolio Hotels managed by IHG and General Manager of InterContinental Century City Chengdu, and he was responsible for the operating and pre-opening of 11 hotel properties in Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou, Wuhan and Lhasa. Since 2013, he has led the team successfully opened InterContinental Heilong Lake, InterContinental Chengdu Global Center and InterContinental Lhasa Paradise.
David has already built a very strong partnership not only with the ETG team and his current owners, but also has strong relationships with many of the other owners and teams across the broader area of Sichuan and Chongqing. With the deep knowledge of how to operate high performing hotels, lead diverse teams and leverage scale, David will be leading the operations in such a critical market not only for today but into the future.
