Independent hotels and small chains looking to connect with their travellers via new media are often stuck for options. Most property management systems are legacy systems that do not exist in the Cloud, making integration with mobile travel applications quite painful and expensive. Additionally, the old systems are non-mobile, meaning you don’t have instant access via smartphone or tablet, which, we all know, people today rely on heavily.
Mews Systems is happy to introduce a complete mobile solution for hotels, apartments, B&Bs and hostels. The Mews Commander (Property Management Solution) is 100 percent mobile and has been optimized for any smartphone/tablet with an Internet browser.
What does this new mobility mean for hoteliers in their day-to-day life?
Owners can access their hotel/hotels from anywhere, at any time and on any device. They can review performance, check the booking pace and seamlessly switch between hotels with the click of a button.
General Managers have an instant overview of what is happening at the hotel. Their dashboard shows the status of checked-in/out rooms, performance of housekeeping, a 7-day occupancy forecast, the hotel’s TripAdvisor ranking and a myriad of reports.
Management can get a quick overview of arrivals, departures, VIPs and financial performance. They can upgrade bookings, make new bookings on the go or even close the hotel for sales, all directly from their smartphone.
Receptionists are no longer glued to a desk. They can be mobile and roam throughout the lobby to assist customers on the spot, to welcome customers at the door or even to accompany customers to their rooms. The Mews Commander allows for payments directly in the system, and it does not require any external payment device. Bills can be e-mailed directly to customers.
Housekeepers can clean rooms and put them directly back into the hotel inventory from their smartphone. This improves communication with the Front Office and ensures a faster rooming process. They can also instantly charge minibars directly from the device, preventing late charges.
Maintenance can keep track of all their tasks from the simple task manager, which is incorporated directly into the system. They have a constant overview of all outstanding issues and can communicate directly with the Front Office once an issue is resolved.
A Mews hotel = A green hotel
Another benefit of going 100% mobile is that you do not have to invest in expensive servers, which constantly need continuous care and upgrades. Instead, we host our product in Microsoft Azure servers, ensuring an optimum usage of energy through dynamic resource scaling.
Instead of printing guest bills, we allow you to directly e-mail bills to customers. Just think how much money you will save on printers, ink and paper.
Integrations makes life easier for guests and staff
What makes a good PMS successful is when it makes the lives of team members easier and when it offers direct integrations with other technologies in hotels. We build our software with flexible API’s, allowing for quick and painless integrations.
We focus on integrations that are mobile and that eliminate manual labour. For example, our integration with the payment provider Braintree resolved the number of times a customer has to submit his/her credit card.
Traditionally a guest pulls out his card three times: at the time of booking, during check-in for preauthorization and again at check-out. With our integration, once Mews captures the card at the time of the booking, we can preauthorize or charge the card directly with the click of a button. The card doesn’t even have to be present.
Up next – online check-in
We are currently developing a complete online check-in module that will allow customers to check-in directly from their phone, tablet or computer, at home or on the road. They will be able to fill in registration information, submit their credit card, upgrade to a higher room category or even request special amenities to be ready upon arrival. Once the hotel will be informed about the guests’ exact arrival time, they can welcome them by name and show them directly to their room, completely bypassing reception.
