Australian accommodation provider Oaks Hotels & Resorts, a division of Minor Hotel Group, has announced the opening of its 48th property, Oaks Rivermarque, marking the hotelier’s debut in the tropical city of Mackay, Queensland.
The new-build, 138-room, serviced apartment complex occupies a location in the region’s central business district, with sweeping views over the Pioneer River that weaves through Mackay and into the Pioneer Valley – one of Australia’s richest sugar cane areas.
Standing eight stories tall, the 4.5 star Oaks Rivermarque offers both corporate and leisure travellers with contemporary, self-contained accommodation in a number of configurations, coupled with a range of deluxe onsite facilities including a sizeable swimming pool, spa, well-equipped gymnasium, BBQ area, sundeck and business services. Complimentary car parking is also available for hotel guests.
An onsite restaurant and café is on track to open on 15 September 2014, along with the introduction of room service, which will be a welcome addition for guests seeking the convenience of onsite dining.
The 21st property to open in Queensland under the Oaks Hotels & Resorts banner, Oaks Rivermarque offers a selection of modern hotel rooms and studios, complete with tea and coffee making facilities and kitchenettes respectively. Spacious, stylishly appointed one and two bedroom apartments are also on offer, some with dual key facilities, boasting full kitchen and laundry facilities, open-plan lounge and dining areas, and private courtyards and balconies. All rooms feature king size beds, LCD TVs with Foxtel, reverse cycle air-conditioning and 30 minutes continuous use of free Wi-Fi daily.
Oaks Rivermarque is ideally positioned for guests to enjoy the many local attractions and experiences that line the city’s palm-fringed streets, including an abundance of al-fresco cafes, popular bars and casual restaurants, the Mackay Golf Club, Botanical Gardens and Mackay Marina Village. The property also fronts the Bluewater Lagoon leisure facility, part of the Bluewater Trail – offering a handful of pedestrian and bike pathways, raised boardwalks, environmental areas and activities for adventurers of all ages.
For holidaymakers visiting the region, a myriad of postcard-perfect tropical islands lie just off Mackay’s coast, part of the famous Whitsundays, presenting guests of Oaks Rivermarque with the opportunity to escape the city on day trips and explore the rainbow coloured reefs by way of boating, snorkeling and swimming.
CEO of Oaks Hotels & Resorts Brett Pointon commented, “We are thrilled to welcome Oaks Rivermarque to our growing portfolio of central hotels and coastal resorts. Mackay is a unique destination in that it is a growth corridor servicing a mix of leisure travellers wanting a taste of life in the tropics, and corporate visitors conducting business in the region’s key industries of coal mining and agriculture. We look forward to welcoming all types of guests to Oaks Rivermarque as they experience Mackay’s newest standard of accommodation.”
