Accor General Manager ‘swap’ in North Queensland

Two General Managers working for Accor Hotels in North Queensland are effectively ‘swapping’ roles and cities this month, switching permanently between top jobs at the Mercure Townsville and Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort.

Peter Richardson has been appointed General Manager of Accor’s Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort, departing the Mercure Townsville where he has been based as General Manager since 2005.

James Murphy has been appointed General Manager of the Mercure Townsville, arriving from Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort where he has been General Manager since 2011.

James commenced his career with Accor United Kingdom in 2002 where he was Operations Manager at the Novotel London Waterloo, before being promoted to General Manager at the Novotel Milton Keynes. In June 2006, James joined Accor Australia as General Manager at the All Seasons Perth, before moving to the Novotel Atrium Darwin in September 2007, and subsequently to Novotel Barossa Valley in June 2008 before heading north to Cairns and Townsville.
