Marco Polo Hotels – Hong Kong is pleased to appoint Mr. James Ong as General Manager of the three harbourside hotels: Marco Polo Hongkong, Gateway and Prince Hotels.
James is no stranger to Marco Polo: in 2007, he was appointed Area General Manager, Southern China based in Marco Polo Shenzhen. Prior to that, he was General Manager of Omni Saigon Hotel for two years, which at the time was also managed by Marco Polo Hotels. His most recent position was opening General Manager of Hilton Wuhan Optics Valley.
James has a wealth of hospitality experience under his belt spanning six different countries: from the United States and China to Southeast Asian destinations including Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines and Hong Kong. His solid understanding of the hotel industry will benefit the overall operations and management of the three recently amalgamated properties in Hong Kong now comprising over 1400 total rooms and suites.
“This is an exciting opportunity to convey an energized outlook for the Hong Kong properties as well as establish a new business model for Marco Polo Hotels,” said Mr. Ong.
Situated at the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon, the three Marco Polo hotels in Hong Kong, namely Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel, Gateway Hotel and Prince Hotel, form part of the Harbour City – Hong Kong’s largest shopping complex of more than 450 shops featuring the world’s leading luxury brands. The three hotels comprise 1,455 well-appointed and spacious guestrooms and suites, all equipped with complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access with deluxe amenities against the backdrop of spectacular city or Harbour views.
Marco Polo Hotels is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Wharf (Holdings) Ltd, a Hong Kong-listed company with core business interests in property and investments in communications and container-terminal operations.
