Pan Pacific names Sharmini Moganasundram its first female hotel GM

In line with its focus on nurturing talent and developing its associates, Pan Pacific Hotels Group is pleased to announce two internal management appointments for its properties in Singapore and Malaysia.

Sharmini Moganasundram moves from her General Manager role at PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Kuala Lumpur to become the Group’s first female hotel General Manager, in charge of PARKROYAL on Kitchener Road in Singapore.

Located within the vibrant cultural district of Little India, the 534-room hotel boasts a comprehensive range of guest facilities including a gymnasium, swimming pool, all-day dining restaurant, award-winning Si Chuan Dou Hua restaurant and nostalgia-themed music bar, Club 5. The hotel was also a recent recipient of the BCA Green Mark Platinum award, the highest rating for green buildings in Singapore.

A long-serving associate who has been with the Group for over 20 years, Sharmini was notably Hotel Manager of “Pan Pacific” and PARKROYAL hotels in Kuala Lumpur before she was promoted to General Manager of PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Kuala Lumpur last year.

Having also undertaken management responsibilities at established business hotels in Malaysia, Singapore and Switzerland, Sharmini will harness her extensive operational expertise of both hotels and serviced suites to further drive the performance of PARKROYAL on Kitchener Road.

With Sharmini’s move to Singapore, PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Kuala Lumpur’s Resident Manager Goh Tee Kay has been promoted to become the property’s Acting General Manager.

Tee Kay has been with the 287-unit PARKROYAL Serviced Suites Kuala Lumpur since its pre-opening in 2010, starting out as Director of Sales before being promoted to Resident Manager last year.

Now as Acting General Manager, Tee Kay will continue to lead the formulation and implementation of strategies to deliver product and service excellence, so as to enhance the property’s reputation as a leading accommodation of choice in the heart of the Golden Triangle, Kuala Lumpur’s prime commercial, shopping and entertainment district.

A sales & marketing veteran, Tee Kay had previously worked with Doubletree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur, Berjaya Hotels & Resorts, Pangkor Island Beach Resort and Lanson Place Ambassador Row Kuala Lumpur.

“As a company that places great emphasis on nurturing the individual strengths and interests of our associates and grooming them for meaningful career progressions within the Group, we take exceptional pride in announcing the watershed appointment of Sharmini and the promotion of Tee Kay to their respective positions,” says Bernold O. Schroeder, Chief Executive Officer, Pan Pacific Hotels Group.

“Being dedicated and high-performing professionals, both of them have been inspiring role models for their colleagues and subordinates. We are delighted and privileged to continue playing an influential role in their professional development and look forward to many more fulfilling years of service with them.”

As testament to its strong employer credibility and reputation, Pan Pacific Hotels Group was named among the top 20 Employer Brands in Singapore for the third year running at the 2014 Randstad Award. Organised by leading global HR services company Randstad, the Award is based on a survey of 4,500 respondents about the perceived attractiveness of 75 of the largest companies (by employee numbers) in the country.
