Abhishek Sahai new GM of The Leela Palace Udaipur

The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts announced the appointment of Abhishek Sahai as General Manager of The Leela Palace Udaipur, a modern palace inspired by the magic and grandeur of Udaipur’s royal past. He brings with him over 14 years of experience in core hotel operations and has worked at senior positions at The Oberoi and The Leela. Prior to joining The Leela Palace Udaipur, Abhishek was Rooms Division Manager at The Leela Mumbai.

In his new role, Abhishek will manage the Leela Palace Udaipur which has been named one of the ‘World’s Top Resorts’ and ‘The Most Exclusive Retreat’ on Earth by Robb Report USA in 2012 and one of ‘World’s Best Hotels’ in Conde Nast Traveller’s Gold List 2012. Its ESPA spa, India’s only tented luxury spa by the lake, has also won top honours including ‘Best Luxury Spa’ at World Luxury Spa Awards in 2011 and 2013.

Abhishek first joined The Leela family in 2010 as Executive Assistant to the President and Front Office Manager of The Leela Mumbai before progressing to Rooms Division Manager of The Leela Palace Chennai. In this capacity, he played a crucial role in finalizing the hotels’ positioning in Chennai along with setting up the Rooms Division of the property and hiring and training 250 team members. Prior to this stint, he led teams in various operational capacities at The Leela Mumbai, and The Oberoi, New Delhi, where he began his hospitality career.

Taking charge at The Leela Palace Udaipur, Abhishek said, “From its distinctive architecture to award-winning offerings – it is certainly an honour to take on the role of General Manager of such a fine property. Abhishek holds a PG Diploma in Executive General Management from IIM Lucknow and Hospitality Management from Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development along with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, English and Sociology from Lucknow University. He has also undertaken the Management Development Program from Cornell University School of Hotel Administration.
