New Comms Director for International Convention Centre Sydney

AEG Ogden has announced the appointment of Samantha Taranto as the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) Communications Director, bolstering the ICC Sydney management team as it fields increasing business interest from around the world.

A senior communications and public relations professional, Samantha’s 14 years of experience spans communications consulting and in-house corporate affairs with companies including AMP Capital, The GPT Group and Weber Shandwick. Chief Executive Officer of ICC Sydney and AEG Ogden Group Conventions Director, Geoff Donaghy said Samantha’s appointment would continue to build the growing momentum and interest in ICC Sydney.

“Construction is now well underway and following the confirmation of Sibos in 2018, the world’s largest financial conference, we are pleased to welcome such a seasoned communications professional to our executive team.

“Samantha brings a wealth of corporate, industry, government and community engagement experience to the role, having delivered award-winning campaigns and communication strategies for large-scale development projects along the East Coast of Australia,” Mr Donaghy said.

Ms Taranto said she was thrilled to play a role in the marketing and operation of such an iconic Sydney venue.

“ICC Sydney will be a beacon of innovation, learning and entertainment, connecting and celebrating leaders of invention, business, governance and the arts. It is a great privilege to be a part of this major city-building project, which will attract expertise from an array of disciplines to Sydney and ultimately showcase our great city to the world.
“I am truly delighted to be joining AEG Ogden, a globally recognised venue management brand, and the team set to open ICC Sydney in this unparalleled opportunity,” she said.

Opening in December 2016, ICC Sydney presents Australia’s largest and first fully-integrated convention, exhibition and entertainment centre, further highlighting Sydney’s place as one of the world’s most desirable business event destinations.

ICC Sydney is located on Sydney’s waterfront amidst a dynamic precinct with a rich arts and dining scene and just a moment’s walk from the CBD, Circular Quay, Central Station, Chinatown and a number of institutions of learning.

It is well supported by ground transport, including train, bus and light rail, and is just eight kilometres from international and domestic airports.

“Samantha is developing a communications strategy that, in collaboration with our business development and marketing, will build the ICC Sydney brand and showcase the outstanding features and functionality of our world-class venue to Sydney, NSW and the world,” Mr Donaghy said.
